John Tunheim is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. He joined the court on July 10, 1995, after being nominated by President Bill Clinton (D). He served as chief judge of the court from July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2022. He assumed senior status on December 1, 2023.

John Tunheim served as chair of the Assassination Records Review Board in the 1990s, with authority to decide what JFK assassination records were released. He says the latest JFK assassination files won’t be expected to prove a conspiracy, and that he still believes Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.
