One.
Ahhhh, a brand new year. While VH-1 stands ready to review the year just past over and over until at least mid March, we find ourselves Googling for rays of hope for what's to come, be that astrologically or otherwise. Well, Google no more... I've got just the scoop you're after: With the application of a few simple ideas, 2008 will be a deeply gratifying year. All that is needed is to join with the prevalent energies of the time period, recognize those situations calling out for our attention, respond appropriately, and leave the rest to a level of intelligence too massive for mere Earthlings to comprehend. This ensures the most beneficial outcome for not only ourselves but everyone connected to us as well.
Yeah, okay, you got me... that's actually the formula for making any year deeply gratifying. Or any month. Or any day. And I'll be taking a more in-depth look at each of these ideas as the year progresses. It's truly amazing, though, how empowered we feel when our guiding principles encompass absolutely everything we set out to do. Whether we're headed to the supermarket or building an apartment complex, the realization that our every decision carries the potential for all kinds of far-reaching effects can be very exciting.
Being a big numerology freak, I have to point out that this is a 1 Universal year. In the simplest of terms this is "a" beginning for all of us on this planet . I'm here to suggest, however, that it's time for "the" beginning. Truly, what we as a society, a nation, and one big giant spinning dirt ball put into motion this year will set a new theme for a whole decade ahead. There has been a great deal of gridlock, stagnation, and an ever increasing number of questions without answers in the last few years. Therefore, we've all felt much angst, much unrest, and much pain but the time is finally here when a massive shift is not only possible it's eminent.
Though hardly an avid follower of international affairs, I am very much a follower of the emotional responses felt through myself and those around me, if not the nation, if not the world. While writing this segment, the untimely death of renown leader Benazir Bhutto brought forth a great emotional response around the globe. I suspect this woman's greatest message was one delivered beyond words and reflected more in her actions and presence. I mention this event, though, because I see it as an exclamation point on the certain-conditions-must-end-here theme of 2007. If we each follow the most steadfast of our innermost urgings through to completion, that which truly needs to end for our ultimate benefit indeed will. The pathway being cleared, something better can at last start to take hold.
Hey, look, there will still be unrest, upheaval, and unanswered questions as long as we're a physical species on any ball circling any other ball. But now is the time to channel all that potential energy into some constructive change because we truly have the wind at our backs giving us some much needed assistance.
From what I've seen so far, I'm lovin' on the shifts being made by Gen Y and Gen Z (or Millennials or whatever tag has been deemed cleverly on-point in the last 48 hours). As a group consciousness, it looks to me that you guys decide you wanna do something and just go do it. It appears that you may be leapfrogging over so much of the fill-out-these-twenty-eight-forms kinda thinking responsible for much of our gridlock. Finally, a very real possibility that the fears of imaginary red tape -- or the imaginary need for it -- could get less and less in our way. Could it be that dream-crushing thoughts like "we don't have the technology" aren't even in your DNA?? At last, I am observing a core belief I've held all my life: If it can be imagined, it can be done... therefore let's just friggin' do it! One of the most key ideas here being "us". After far too much time spent in "self" mode since the Me-Me-It's-All-About-Me Generation came into power (hence Anthony Robbins, hence "The Secret", hence ALL forms of how-can-I-alone-benefit kind of thinking), and after a collective decline in firm-footed, high-quality living, the Iron Chef of All Existence has revealed this year's secret ingredient: US. As in WE.
As in TOGETHER.
Back to the Future
In the early 80's, when I had my sights firmly and irrevocably set on becoming a car designer -- the trials and tribulations of which I discuss in this video -- more often than not my ideas met with brick walls of opposition. For instance, my entrance portfolio contained headlight configurations which suit-and-tie types deemed "impossible" and "impractical". Those "impossible" headlights came onto the scene around 1998 and have only gotten more and more "impractical" as time has gone on.
In the late 80's while actually attending design college, aerodynamics was the big news of the day. We were all encouraged and expected to bring some variation of the potato-on-wheels to the table each week. Quite unaware of my very strong connection to the unconscious levels of thought and activity going on beyond us, around us and through us, I continually had this urging to create gargantuan, army-tank-like vehicles on giant wheels. A hardcore lover of the classic sedan waaaaaay before it was revered as the optimal gangsta sled, even I thought this armored-car slant was looney tunes.

Still, I could see it, feel it, and all but taste it, so I drew it and put it up on the wall as part of a project aimed at the year 2010 and beyond. (It was deemed completely ridiculous, of course, prodding me to eventually move on to more appreciative environs.)
What I was sensing and perceiving was the original Hummer H1 slow-simmering toward mass marketing. Impractical? Yes. Stupid? A bit. Why I was picking up on this, I don't know. But the point here is this whole scene was brewing in the collective unconscious and the 1992 L.A. riots gave it the perfect excuse to come to fruition. That crazy Hummer move basically brought the whole SUV trend to our conscious awareness and the feverish trend set sail. As did a massive increase in fuel consumption.
Sooooooo, my point with all this:
Given the incredibly fertile ground we're standing on this year to create revolutionary moves, NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE YOUR MOVE!!! A new kind of move. A collectively beneficial move. If you or a group of you have been gravitating toward similarly inexplicable yet persistent ideas as my Hummer example, it could be the exact building block we as a society need to have created and put into place. This is your screaming chance to do things better, smarter, and with far greater foresight than has been done in the past. After we begin to consciously incorporate what's going on beyond our logical brains and understand the value of this infinite wisdom, then we can apply human logic and reason to what we're perceiving. With this rich tapestry of inspiration and intelligence completely ignored by previous generations, we can elicit miraculous changes in every possible sense of that word. What kind of revolution is bursting to get outta you right about now?
Consider Ye This
As we go into 2008, I'm busy making a number of enhancements and additions to MooreToConsider.com. I would love to really, really begin demystifying this whole idea of tapping into the superconscious messages emanating from us and through us. As the Hummer example indicates above, there is a constant stream of information flowing among us. Becoming familiar with this situation, discerning what is valuable about what we perceive, and working with these ideas can advance things way faster than anything the technological age has even come close to showing us.
If this whole idea speaks to you on a deeply personal level, you may be interested in this recent healing-related segment. This reflects one of the many ways I am seeking to incorporate the beyond-the-body consciousness idea into practical applications.
And whether you're a first-time visitor to MooreToConsider.com or check in periodically, keep an eye on the existing articles on this site as they're about to become a lot more informative and a lot more... well... interesting!
So let's hear it for positive change in 2008. Which means positive change NOW.
