Decision leads to change.
And how.
Any kind of clicking around this site will rapidly demonstrate that I get my cues from far more than just my brain cells or my feelings or anything physically tangible. This means trusting a guidance which sees factors up ahead I cannot perceive just yet. Case in point, it's only in hindsight that I understand why I was led to write the article on miracles at a time when I was traversing one of the most puzzling, physically challenging, and painful periods of my life. As it turned out, this diehard fan of unconditional acceptance was just about to rediscover the miracle of self-assertion. Oh, and simultaneously rediscover that we're only ever talking to ourselves. Or writing to ourselves. Or, for that matter, healing ourselves.
One Sunday afternoon in March 2006 I put out my last cigarette. Done. After two failed attempts prior, AT LAST I had that "knowing" in my bones... I was done. Years and years of meditation and a deep yearning for truth had afforded me many profound experiences but things could only go so far with contradictory forces at work. My decision to step out from behind this final barrier of dependence yielded an almost instantaneous transformation. Within three weeks I began to discern a voice from a place beyond the function of my eardrums and beyond that of my thinking mind. And this is the source of the recordings you can hear throughout this site.
But just as this incredible phenomenon was unfolding, a previously remiss colitis condition returned and started slowly creeping up on me from behind. Well... more literally, up in my behind. I couldn't help but think, "Here I stand with a direct pipeline to the wisdom of the universe. How can it be that my personal pipeline is even allowed to experience anything but optimal health?? What crazy universe is this??"
I assure you this ongoing situation has been teaching me all kinds of stuff even if I am not always so keen on the learning process. Honestly, one of the most negating ideas I kept clinging to was that I would surely be relieved of this somehow merely by virtue of my dedication to seeking truth. This dedication probably did actually help me... most likely by showing me that on its own it wasn't enough! But neither was merely going to the doctor as we have come to expect. With colitis, we're talking about a "terminal" condition for which they have no magic pill, no irrefutable cure.
Me, me, me, me, MEEEEE!!
I did not experience healing until I'd had it up to my eyeballs with pain and an inability to take three steps from the bathroom. Nothing even resembling improvement took place until I took a proactive defense-attorney-like approach with my doctors. I took matters into my own hands. BY both hands. I documented every phase of this condition, outlined and proposed a plan of action, and gave printed copies to the mind-numbing number of doctors I have to see via my HMO plan. Finally, the doctors took notice. Finally, something shifted. Finally, they tried something new.
This proactive position was the missing link for me. My own insistence to All That Is that I experience the healing I deserve was the vital link this time around. And this proaction is the being-our-own-Christ idea discussed previously... which I also didn't fully realize when I wrote it.
More and more, I believe,
it will be necessary for all of us
to take such a stance
as outdated methods cease to function in our society. LIke the wasteful and inefficient HMO rat maze.
I wish to rapidly assure you there is nothing to fear about this scenario. Quite to the contrary, such a rediscovery of our personal power and reasserting ourselves as individuals is the very thing that'll turn things around for us all. Not only is that idea something to celebrate, such personal responsibility actually makes us feel like celebrating.
Just a thought but...
Think about it a moment. Ever notice a weird little feeling in your stomach, throat, or perhaps around your heart when someone announces that they are a healer? It doesn't matter whether they're talking about Reiki or energy work or Western medicine or what. Something shifts inside us whenever anyone makes the claim that they can heal us. Perhaps we become a little suspicious and put up a wall. Or maybe we think, "At last!! Someone to get rid of all these dang-blasted ailments!" Either way, our tendency is to shift away from a mind frame of personal empowerment, which my experience has demonstrated is of foremost importance in the process of healing.
In January of 1997 I became a certified massage therapist which opened my eyes to the incredible possibilities of healing just through touch alone. In 2007 I delved into a healing intensive course offered by Rosalyn L. Bruyere which opened my mind to an even more profound level of healing possible through human interaction. And the most recent course -- and by far the most riveting -- was through the personal experience of pain and the lack of healing I described above. This experience drove home the importance of summoning our own strength to meet the situation head on like nothing else could have.
Tapping into the wisdom that exists through us and beyond us inspired the creation of this site. Just the idea that passing along what I've learned might help others with their own search has been the steam that keeps me going.
In the same way these factors "lead" me to write a particular segment, I've perceived numerous times in various ways that I can be most helpful in one on one interaction. Believe me, I love having the opportunity to put the practical skills and understanding I've acquired into practical use and I've now made one on one sessions a reality. Although the best possible avenue will vary from person to person, here's a general idea as to the objective:
There's a delicate balance of allowing out and allowing in and just simply being in the moment that elicits change. If I am the facilitator of this process, I first bring myself into that balance then help you achieve that state which then enables a flow of "new" energy. We're basically talking about giving up our stranglehold on those old -- albeit nicely familiar -- energy patterns which just aren't supporting our vitality very well anymore.
In turn, we're inviting in and accessing an intelligence beyond either of us. For sure this involves a different pattern of energy but it's also a very natural wisdom which leads us to the perfect, exactly right, most needed next step.
This whole process can take a multitude of forms and directions. Sometimes the cells of our bodies make long overdue changes. Sometimes we become very clear that we need to see a medical professional in order to proceed. Sometimes we realize everything has actually been okay all along. Whatever the case, this process leads you to become an active participant in your process. And at first that may mean little more than making the decision to show up and give something new a try.
